In very hot weather conditions, Platinum Stars FC suffered a 2-0 defeat from Maritzburg united FC on Sunday afternoon. The North West side showed commitment just towards the end of the game but it was already late for the firing United, who came in prepared at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

It was Dambe that saved a shot at range in the 09th minute into the opening of the game. The game took side of the visiting team, whom were more committed in terms of communicating and playing clean football. Mabena then fired his shots constantly but were denied by Vries. Rodgers did not have a chance in today’s game as they were on his shoulder everytime he approached a ball.

Mekoa made it sure that the ball hits the back of the net in the 28th minute and literally put his side in the lead. After half time, Dikwena came back determined and created chances, made things look positive for themselves but constantly not being allowed to come even closer to Vries.

Mabena then leveled matters in the 87th minute with a beautiful goal that left United frustrated but the visiting side pushed more and eventually scored their second at the 89th minute. No extra time was given and the final whistle was blown to declare United the winners for today’s encounter.
