It is just few days left then the last 16 round of the Nedbank Cup will invade the weekend as teams will be battling for a spot in the last 8 round. Platinum Stars also has a spot in the last 16 round after playing a 3-0 win over The Magic FC almost a month ago. The Magic FC were unable to cause Platinum Stars any real problems as the Premiership side easily brushed them at The Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Two goals from Eleazar Rodgers and a Vincent Khumalo’s penalty were enough to see the Rustenburg-based side safely through to the round of 16. Now, it is game on and Dikwena will be going up against Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend. Stars will be hoping to go past to the next level as this is the only cup they find themselves playing for, after playing in the semi-final and final of the MTN 8 and Telkom Knockout respectively.
“Cup games are different and we are looking at getting a spot in the last 8 round of the Ke Yona Cup, that is closer to the title and we can. We (Players) need to look back to draw inspiration, and seek strength from memories of success this club has had previously. I am confident and I am happy that with the current mood at training, we are showing willingness to succeed. We will approach this one with so much positivity and when the final whistle is blown, the grass at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace will have had a game and nothing else” Eleazar Rodgers.
Tickets to the encounter are available at Computicket and Platinum Stars looks forward to a great weekend and a game to unite the province. Kick off is at 15:00, at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
