Platinum Stars midfield general Robert Ng’ambi has likened Dikwena’s final match of the year to a cup final.
Ng’ambi tells Platinumstars.com that he and his teammates will step onto the pitch with nothing but three points on their minds when they tackle Highlands Park at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Tuesday evening.
“It’s good for us to focus and make sure that we finish on high. It’s going to be a very tough game. We know that everyone is looking for three points. We know Highlands Park haven’t won for a while. They are gunning for points also. Everyone wants to finish on a high note so we must take it very serious. We have to collect three points. We have to win so that we can move from where we are at the moment,” said Ng’ambi.
“This match is the only thing that is standing between us and to move from where we are to where we want to be. We have to focus on the performance before the results. You can talk about the results but if you don’t perform there’s nothing you can do. We have to go there and show that we are a good team. We have to out and control everything about the game so that we can win and move up. It’s like a cup final for us.”
Dikwena are currently on position 12 with 13 points while Highlands Park are second from bottom with 12 points. The status quo doesn’t sit well with Ng’ambi.
“If you look at the log, we are not far from teams that are below us. It’s only one win and they would jump us. We have to take care of things and collect maximum points and move a little bit up so that when come back next year we have to push for top eight. It is very important to win this game. I am very confident because everyone is now coming to the party to make sure that we are controlling performances. There are positive things for us,” said the Malawian international.
Dikwena’s match against Highlands Park kicks off at 7.30pm.
