Platinum Stars can confirm the acquisition of three players.
Dikwena signed midfielder Abia Nale, midfielder Gerald Phiri and defender Willem Mwedihanga on Tuesday. Nale is an experienced attacker, who has turned out for Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs and most recently Maritzburg United. Malawian Phiri was on the books of Bidvest Wits while Namibian international Mwedihanga has turned out for AmaZulu and University of Pretoria.
Dikwena general manager Senzo Mazingiza confirmed to Platinumstars.com that the club has bolstered the squad with the trio.
“There have been talks between us and the coach in terms of players we want to bring on board. I can confirm that we have signed Nale, who has wealth of experience. He will add value to our attack. Phiri is also an exciting number 10, who can also make meaningful contribution. We are hopeful that Mwedihanga will add the required experience at the back.
These are the additions that our coach Cavin Johnson will be proud of. He has been part of the plans and discussions in terms of who we should have in terms of beefing up our team,” said Mazingiza.
Mazingiza revealed that the club is not done with signings.
“There’s also one player that we are still chasing. If all goes according to plan, we will make an announcement. Also concerning players who might be leaving, we are talking to them. We want to respect the players,” said Mazingiza.
On Tuesday, Nale and Phiri trained with Johnson’s men while Mwedihanga is yet to arrive from Namibia. Dikwena’s next match is an Absa Premiership encounter against Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on February 08.
