Platinum Stars veteran midfielder Solomon Mathe predicts Dikwena will be very competitive for the remainder of the Absa Premiership campaign.
With new signings and renewed strength, Mathe is adamant he and his teammates will put on better performances than in the first half of the season, where they found the going tough. Dikwena are currently on position 13 with 14 points on the log.
“We didn’t play well in the first round but towards the end of December, we showed some improvements. If we can produce such kind of performances, I think we are going to do well. We are going to be very competitive. Since we came back in January, I look at the guys and I see that everyone is willing to fight for the team. Everyone is pushing hard at training,” Mathe tells Platinumstars.com
Mathe and his teammates have a chance to change things for better when they host Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace this coming Wednesday night. Mathe says Cavin Johnson’s men have been working hard at training in preparation for the season and the opening game against Pirates. He is hoping Dikwena will give their best to ensure they register a win in front of the home crowd.
“We play home and we haven’t been doing well at home so we have to win at all costs. We are looking forward to the game. We need the supporters to come in numbers. We don’t want to disappoint them From the friendly matches we have been playing I can say the team is ready. The guys are looking forward to playing. First round, some guys didn’t have competition but now we all know that the moment you slip up, somebody is ready to take your place. Everyone wants to play,” said the central midfielder.
Kickoff is at 7.30pm
