Platinum Stars midfielder Gerald Phiri says Dikwena will go into every match looking for nothing less than maximum points.
Dikwena take on Baroka FC in an Absa Premiership clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday night. Phiri says Cavin Johnson’s men will be out to get vengeance against Baroka, who have defeated Dikwena twice in the league and the Telkom Knockout this season.
“We are here to win. That’s our priority,” Phiri told Platinumstars.com from Polokwane.
“It’s going to be a tough game. They have beaten us twice already so we have to get something out of the game. We have got to get revenge and get three points from them as well. We need three points from everywhere we go. At the moment a loss is not on our minds. The best we can do is three and the least we can do is one point.”
Phiri, who joined Dikwena recently, made his debut last week against Orlando Pirates in a match where he excelled. The Malawian international wants to build from his performance in order to cement his place in the squad.
“Most people say I had a great game and that I should look to improve on that performance. As a player I am looking to perform better than I did against Pirates and help the team. It was a great performance but we didn’t get a win. I want to see the team win,” said the 23-year-old.
Dikwena are currently on position 12 with 15 points on the Absa Premiership. Phiri says the clubs belongs to be up high on the table.
“This team should be up there in the top four. We didn’t have a good first half of the season. That’s going to work in our favour because everyone in the team wants to finish on a high. Competition is there in the team. It’s good because it makes the guys to want to push each other. If we push each other and we get on the team, I think we would be unstoppable,” said the Flames midfielder.
Kickoff is at 7.30pm
