Platinum Stars Football Club would like to express heartfelt condolences to the family of Bloemfontein Celtic life president Dr Petrus Molemela, who passed away on Sunday morning.
Molema, who passed away at the age of 83, was a towering figure in South African football. Dikwena general manager Senzo Mazingiza says Molemela’s legacy should be lauded following his immense contribution to the sport.
“We are saddened as a club by the passing of Dr Molemela. History shows that his contribution has been great. His work speaks volumes. He has done exceptionally well for the growth and development of football not only in the Free State Province but the whole country,” said Mazingiza.
“It’s a great loss not only to his family, Bloemfontein Celtic, football fraternity but South Africa at large. There are lessons to be drawn from his life. He was passionate about football. His name will surely go down into the annals of South African football as one of the pioneers, whose indelible mark is there for all to see. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family and all affected parties at this time of need.”
