Platinum Stars midfield maestro Robert Ng'ambi says Dikwena players are oozing confidence ahead of the Absa Premiership encounter against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium tonight.
Ng'ambi, who inspired Dikwena to CAF Confederation Cup group stages over the weekend, says Dikwena's win over Ivory Coast side AS Tanda revived their confidence following two consecutive losses on the domestic front.
"The weekend result gave our confidence a boost. We wanted a win after we lost two games against Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City. This is a win that gives a lot of confidence going forward. I think the morale is high now. We just need to stay focused and make sure that we give everything against Polokwane City," Ngambi tells Platinumstars.com.
Dikwena are still involved in three competitions - the Absa Premiership, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup. Ng'ambi, who has managed to score eight goals in all competitions, believes the weekend's milestone has given Dikwena a massive shot in the arm.
"It was a morale booster ahead of the Polokwane game. We wanted to make history. It was a must win for us. We wanted a win to qualify for the group stages. We are happy that we are going forward. We have to make sure that every game that comes we get the positive results. We have a cup and a league game coming up. We have to switch focus to the league now. We need to focus on the game of Polokwane. It's a huge game. It's a must win for us to get that chance to get into the top eight,” said the Malawian international.
Ng'ambi is expected to play a vital role as Dikwena set their sights on the top eight. Dikwena are currently 11th on the Absa Premiship table with 25 points while Polokwane are on position eight with 28 points.
Kickoff is at 7:30pm.
