We have to grind results - Mabena
Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena says Dikwena have no choice but to grind results in the remaining four matches.

Mabena, who scored a brace during a 2-2 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns on Thursday night, says Dikwena have to guard against taking their next opponents - Highlands Park, who are at the bottom of the Absa Premiership table, for granted. Dikwena, who are on position 11 with 27 points, host Highlands Park at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace this coming Sunday afternoon.

“Highlands Park are at the bottom of the log and we are also not at a good position. It’s not going to be an easy game for us. They will be looking to get maximum points because they will want to get away from the relegation zone. We also want to be away from the relegation zone. We have to be at our best on the day. We are at home so we have to make sure that we don’t concede. If we don’t concede we won’t lose. We have to grind the results. It’s not going to be easy for us. We will plan very well and see how it goes on Sunday,” Mabena tells

Mabena’s confidence and that of the team received a massive boost after spirited performance against Sundowns. Mabena was judged Man of the Match following his brilliant performance capped by two goals.

“It was great performance from the team. Getting one point from Sundowns, we knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. We had a great game plan from the technical stuff. I think we played very well. It worked for us going with two strikes. We knew Sundowns like to start the build up from the back. Closing their fullbacks and not making it easy for them to play, I think it was great plan and it worked,” said Mabena, who was delighted with his goals.

“I haven’t scored as much as I want this season. Getting two goals with four games to go, I think it’s a morale booster for the team. I am not doing it for myself. I am doing it for the team as we are not in a good position. We need as many maximum points as we can get. We have to grind in this four coming games but we have to take it one game at a time.”

Kickoff is at 3pm.
