Dikwena host Chiefs in PSL grand finale
Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson wants Dikwena’s last Absa Premiership match at home to end on a high.

Dikwena host Kaizer Chiefs at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in what would be their last home match of the domestic campaign this coming Wednesday night. Johnson says his men will give their best in order to get positive results.

“It’s our last PSL game at home this season. We are looking to go out there and do well. It’s always good to play Chiefs because you are sure to get a decent crowd at the stadium. We will come out and do our best to put our best foot forward. Hopefully we can play good football,” Johnson tells

“We won’t take Chiefs lightly. They may have lost to Polokwane City but they remain a big team. They are beatable but we have to accord them the respect they deserve. I know that my players are going to push hard for a win. Whoever plays against Chiefs always put their best foot forward. We are playing against one of the top teams in the country so we will do our best to make sure we get good results.”

For the Chiefs clash, Johnson is confident of fielding a competitive team despite the absence of a number of key players.
“We have a full team. The players that are out are Luvo Mpeta, Ndumiso Mabena and Siyabonga Zulu. Sibusiso Msomi and Mbongeni Mzimela are doubtful. We have to look at them. Ennocent Mkhabela could be available. He has started training. So it’s a good sign. We will have a team that will do the job on Wednesday,” said Johnson.

Over the weekend Dikwena drew 1-1 with MC Alger in the opening match of CAF Confederation Cup group stage. Johnson feels his men could have done better on the Sunday afternoon.

“I thought we were better than them in the first half. We should have at least scored two or three goals. Second they came out and we gave them a little bit of respect. We didn’t carry on with our game. We didn’t continue in the vein where we use the youngsters to go at them. Credit should go to the youngsters. They all raised their hands. They haven’t been regulars in the team but on Sunday they showed a lot of fight and effort,” said Johnson.

Dikwena’s clash with Chiefs kicks off at 7.30pm.
