We have to be strong - Johnson
In the aftermath of his side going 4-2 down against Mbabane Swallows in Swaziland, Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson challenged his men to toughen up.

“This is how things are in Africa. It’s not easy. We can’t beat ourselves. We have to be strong. We have to focus on the coming matches,” Johnson told his men after the game.

Earlier Johnson had registered concerns about the officiating in a match where Swallows striker Sabelo Ndzinisa scored four goals. Striker Benson Shilongo scored Dikwena’s two goals at the National Stadium. Johnson felt the officiating should have been better.

“You get officiating like this. It takes the fun out of football. They don’t give you a chance. The officiating was completely bad. It was completely terrible. The first goal was offside. It takes the sting out of your team. There were fouls after that but you don’t get them. It kills the game completely. What he thinks he is doing I don’t know because he kills the game of football. Slowly it gets to your team. It gets to your players,” said Johnson.

“We try to get out of it. I think we played better football than them in the first half because we missed three or four chances. Good chances that their goalkeeper saved. I think the officiating spoiled the game. The officiating was not good for football. CAF should do something about it.”

Johnson’s sentiments were echoed by Captain Vuyo Mere, who saw yellow for protesting over a decision he felt was unfair.

“Some of the decisions. . . There nothing we can do about them. We have to go back home, rectify our mistakes and focus on the next games. The sooner we forget about this game the better,” said Mere.

Dikwena will now set their sights on their next match, an Absa Premiership clash against SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium this coming Saturday at 3pm.
