Dikwena shift focus to CAF
With the Absa Premiership season done, many a PSL club are going on recess but that not the case with Platinum Stars.
Dikwena players will continue to do their business on the pitch in the CAF Confederation Cup. Though disappointed that Dikwena didn’t make the top eight, Johnson says his men, who ended the season on position nine, will focus on the continental competition.

“We didn’t make the top eight. We are still in the PSL. We can look forward to building. Most important for us is to relax now. PSL is done. We need to concentrate on our African safari that we got and we are not doing so well in. We would like to pick up our socks and play a better game as far as CAF is concerned. You never know when you are going to play this tournament again,” Johnson tells

Chances are Dikwena may not have enough time for off season with the CAF fixtures. Johnson says they will learn from the CAF title winners - Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been in similar situations before.

“It’s a learning curve. It’s something you have got to phone Sundowns and Pirates about and see how they tried to maneuver the off season. You are going to see what you have got. You will see with your fitness people how you get it and maybe you get it right. We will see,” said Johnson.

Dikwena, who are in Group B of the CAF Confed Cup, will travel to Tunis for a clash with CS Sfaxien this coming Sunday. Johnson says his men will do their best.

“We know they are a good team. They lost to MC Alger. We know the type of pitch they play on and the type of players they have. They are good technically. We are going to go out there and play the best we can. I have said to the players before. It’s about showing your talents and showing what you can do on the continent,” said Johnson.
