I left as a boy but I am coming back as a man – Masalesa
Platinum Stars new signing Lehlogonolo Vieira Masalesa is hoping to have a more prosperous stay at Dikwena than he did in his first stint over seven years ago.
The midfield maestro saw little action during his first stint at Dikwena when he was an emerging player. Now at 25, Masalesa has grown in leaps and bounds on and off the pitch. He is determined to make the most of his stay after penning a three year deal on Tuesday afternoon.
“From the last I was here, I feel like I left as a boy and I am coming back as a man. I have grown a lot not just as a player but as a person as well. Obviously I need to make an impact and I know that a lot is expected from me. That’s why Platinum Stars did all they could do to get me back. I just want to do well for the club. Also I want o help the younger players grow as well,” Masalesa tells
Masalesa revealed that there were a number of clubs looking for his signature but he found Dikwena appealing.
“The funny thing is even when we were signing my contract, there was a call from Turkey because they heard that I was signing. Dikwena did everything that they could to get me back. Not just financially but I am also happy with the project that they have and where the club wants to go in the future. That was attractive for me and I felt I want to be a part of it,” said the South African international.
The man from Turfloop, Limpopo believes Peter Butler’s side has enough quality to contest for silverware in the coming season.
“We have good crop of players, a good mixture of young players and experience with players like Robert Ng’ambi and Vuyo Mere. We have a squad that can challenge for a cup or two in the coming season. It’s unfortunate that we won’t be competing in the MTN8 but hopefully we can be competitive in other cups. Hope we will do well in other cup and the league as well. I just hope that the supporters come in their numbers to support the club. If the city of Rustenburg gets behind the team, I think it will help us to do well,” said the man fondly known as Vieira.
